Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms

Check out this easy and elegant appetizer that are a total crowd pleaser to take to holiday parties. Using Nutristore's freeze-dried sausage makes it even quicker, saving precious time that we all have too little of this time of year.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup freeze dried sausage reconstituted with ¾ cup warm water
  • 16-20 Mini Bella mushrooms or white mushrooms
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. green onion chopped
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley
  • 1 Tbsp melted butter
  • ¼ cup bread crumbs
Optional: diced green and red pepper

Preparation

  1. Wipe mushrooms clean with damp paper towel and remove stems creating a cavity to put the mixture in.  Place on parchment lined baking sheet.
  2. Combine cream cheese, green onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, and parsley.  Mix until all combined.
  3. Drain any excess liquid from the sausage, then add to the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Spoon the sausage mixture into the mushroom caps.
  5. Combine melted butter and breadcrumbs.  Roll the mushroom caps in mixture so the tops are all coated.
  6. Bake 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until tops are browned.
  7. Let cool 5 minutes before transferring to serving dish.
